I did an intensive course with Jon, doing 17 hours in one week and the test at the end last week and wanted to share how great my experience was. Jon was a fantastic instructor: calm, clear, friendly, professional and I could not have passed my test without his excellent teaching. All of his instructions, teaching and tips were excellent and easy to understand and implement, and he kept me calm and positive even though I was really nervous about driving! I can’t recommend him and Edinburgh City Driving School highly enough.

Leslie is a fantastic and friendly instructor. His skilled yet laid-back attitude made me feel very relaxed and confident when we were out driving. The pace he taught at was great, and whilst we covered all the bases thoroughly I very soon felt comfortable driving more independently. I would definitely recommend Leslie to anyone wanting to learn to drive. A huge thanks for all the work he’s put in to helping me pass first time.

I am writing regarding my recent experience with Edinburgh City Driving School taking lessons from Leslie Muldoon.
I am very pleased with my experience and happy to report I cleared the practical examination on my first attempt. Leslie is very professional, friendly and knowledgeable. Although I have a U.S. drivers license I was in no way ready to clear the exam when I started lessons. Leslie helped me overcome bad habits and I am now a much safer driver. Leslie was also very patient and flexible when working around my work schedule. I will strongly recommend Edinburgh City Driving School and Leslie to anyone I know.

I would highly recommend David Ambrose and Edinburgh City Driving School. David managed to get me to pass on my second test, following many previous attempts at taking up driving lessons with other instructors. I had given up a few times in the past as I am a very nervous driver, but David managed to achieve the almost impossible and get me to pass, with only two minor faults. I’m very grateful to David for sticking with me and not letting me give up and I’m so glad I persevered with the lessons. David is relaxed and friendly and puts you at ease, while at the same time giving you lots of useful information not just to pass but to be a good driver once you’ve passed. If I ever need refresher lessons I’ll be back!

I would have no hesitation in recommending David Ambrose of Edinburgh City Driving School as an instructor. I first tried for my test a couple of times back in the 1990s and had such awful experiences I didn’t try again until last year at the age of 43. David was patient, clear and focused. He was firm but fair. I did lessons with him from April 2014. I failed again the first time on test in November on a stupid fault but David encouraged me and said I was ready and after only one more lesson passed in December 2014 with only three minor faults. David is an exceptionally gifted teacher and if he can get me through he can get anyone through. Many many thanks to David and ECDS.

My friend recommended Edinburgh City Driving School and I had my driving lessons with David Ambrose. David is friendly, professional and patient whom I would highly recommend. Over the lessons David helped me to build my confidence and work on areas that I struggled with until I was more confident. As a result I passed on my first attempt with only 2 faults.

Having started learning to drive in the country, I previously found city driving rather stressful, however Leslie guided me though the elements of driving in different situations, and made this worry free. His tips and insight went further than just to pass the test, developing good driving skills. I would recommend to anyone.

Just passed my driving test after learning with Edinburgh City Driving School!Had Leslie as an instructor and he was absolutely fab. He easily managed around my work schedule and fit in as many or as few lessons as I wanted each week.As you know learning to drive can be a bit scary, especially if like me you aren’t 17 anymore, and Les made the whole thing a lot easier by being so easy to get along with.I set myself a goal of passing before my birthday and happily managed this with the help of Edinburgh City Driving School and Les who instilled confidence in me and encouraged me all the way.Thanks guys, see you on the roads!!! 🙂

I passed my test this morning with only one fault, and I wanted to thank Dave for being such a patient, calm and encouraging instructor. I always felt comfortable and confident with him instructing me, which is really what helped me to approach my test with the same calmness. Thank you!

It’s very difficult to select a driving instructor in a particularly crowded market and I am extremely happy that I chose Leslie at Edinburgh City Driving School. Leslie and the availability of lessons were extremely flexible and perfect for fitting in around other commitments. I passed my test at the first attempt and the lessons themselves were perfectly tailored to my abilities, needs and skills. The teaching of Leslie, combined with a number of theory tools helped my skills to develop at a great pace. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Leslie to any prospective students.

Just a quick note to say thank you to Jon Perry for helping me to pass my driving test first time and to commend him on his instruction , patience and teaching ability. He was always good at calming nerves and keeping the lessons progressing at a good pace and cant fault him at all on his performance.

I write this having passed my driving test; something which, at times, I doubted I would ever succeed in. However, my instructor Keith thankfully had more faith than I did. I received driving lessons for my 23rd birthday, and have now passed shortly before my 24th birthday.
I did not find learning to drive easy. In fact, I found it really difficult. However, Keith is an extremely patient and encouraging instructor, and over time, I gradually became more confident. After the first few lessons and my nerves abated slightly, I enjoyed my lessons. Keith has great banter and chat on him, and he somehow manages to keep this up, even when you’re making lots of mistakes and it would be easy for him to get fed up! Keith never dwells on mistakes. He is very pragmatic and instead encourages you to get it right next time. Keith explains manoeuvres very clearly and simply, and with his endless patience, he explained these to me on more than one occasion!
When I failed my test a couple of times (largely due to nerve related silly mistakes), Keith assured me that I would get there eventually. He ensured that I didn’t give up, as tempting as it may have been.
I highly recommend Keith for anyone wanting to learn to drive. If I can learn to drive, anyone can. Seriously. And I have Keith to attribute this to. Thanks Keith; you are, and have been, fantastic!

Keith was my instructor and I had him for a block of 10 hour lessons. I had previous experience of driving but needed to brush up to pass my test. I found Keith’s style of teaching not only very straight forward and easy to apply but also very supportive which in turn gave me a lot of confidence.

On top of the lessons, Keith was very social and always had good conversation in the car between maneuvers which is always a plus. He was very flexible with changing lesson times and always patient in the car when taking lessons. Instructions were very straight forward and easy to employed under his tuition.

When it came to the test day I felt fully prepared and that all the maneuvers had been completely covered. I was relaxed and passed with only 2 minors. I can see why both Keith and Edinburgh City Driving School has a great reputation, can’t recommend them enough. Thanks for the help and the great service.

“After having a bad experience with a previous instructor I was nervous about finding a different one in case I would have the same problem. Right from the first contact Keith was professional, relaxed and encouraging- just what a nervous learner driver needs. From then on every lesson I had was a positive experience, with each one gaining more confidence in my driving ability. Leslie has been my instructor since last September and today, I have finally passed! If it were not for Leslie’s relentless patience and understanding as well as his reliability – I never would have gotten through it!

Not only is Leslie an amazing instructor, he adapts his learning style to suit you and helped me to understand not only how to be a safe and knowledgeable driver but also Leslie helped me understand myself and how I learn much better.

It has been a long journey (no pun intended) and although I am partially sad that it has come to an end, I know that I have the confidence and ability to be a great (and safe) driver.

I would highly recommend Leslie (and have done already) to my friends and family.

“After moving down to the capital five years ago, I put my driving lessons on hold until this year. I was nervous to drive in the city for the first time, but I found after my first lesson, I just wanted to get back out straight away!
David was a incredible instructor and I felt very comfortable with him. Very friendly and approachable, he knew which parts of my driving needed work after my first lesson and tailored my lessons to improve.

I would like to give a big thank you to David Ambrose, the driving instructor at ECDS. I have just passed the test after 10 hours of training on my first attempt. He is very friendly and took me through all the possible test routes and explained every possible faults I may make. This really helped to boost my confidence and most of these tips came very handy at the time of the practical test. ECDS have a very good deal for the first 10 hours.I would highly recommend David to any of my friends.

Richard was a really great driving instructor, with hands on driving from the first lesson. His method of getting my driving skills up to a competent standard before starting on the manoeuvres made the whole process much more straightforward and gave me a lot of confidence going into the test. I would like to say a big thank you to Keith for helping me pass my test first time with NO minors! I was a very nervous driver and not confident in my skills at all-but somehow with lots of patience Keith helped me to start believe in myself and as a result my driving started to really improve. I did an intensive course of 20 hours with having previous lessons with other driving instructors and the course was perfect for me. Previous instructors had been quite negative about my driving however Keith was the complete opposite!
